Young, smart, wealthy. David Karp (26 years old) is founder of Tumblr. Monday (05/20/2013) and then, his company was bought by Yahoo at a fantastic price of $ 1.1 billion. That value will be fully paid in cash by Yahoo.

Tumblr is interesting. Since its founding in 2007, Tumblr has become home to 105 million blogs are owned by people from all over the world.

David Karp was born on July 6, 1986 in Manhattan, New York. In that area anyway, he was raised. When the 11 -year -old, David had begun to learn about HTML and designing websites. As a child, in fact he had aspired to go to college at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). However, when he was 14 years old, she had started to feel bored with school.

David's mother, Barbara Ackerman, arguably is the most important person for his son’s success. In an article on NYTimes.com written by Jenna Wortham and Nick Bilton, told about the introduction of David with Fred Seibert, a famous TV producer in the U.S.  The year was 2000. David was 14 years old and already in high school. Seibert while still working as a creative director at MTV.

David's mother who worked as a science teacher at Calhoun School , a private school on the Upper West Side of Manhattan , teaching children Seibert and good friends with his wife . Seibert to his wife, his mother told him about his son who is smart, who is bored with school. Hearing that, Seibert advice mothers to reconcile with her husband David.

Long story, David also visited the office in the Park Avanue Seibert. To Seibert, he said he wanted to learn about engineering. Finally, David Seibert accepts to apprentice as an assistant.

One day, David came into the office and said Seibert would come there every day because he had dropped out of high school. Seibert know David likes tinkering with computers and understand HTML. Seibert told David to tell him about how people will watch the video in the future. At that time, Apple will release the new video iPod. Thanks to the insight of David’s, Next New Networks products can be one of the first video in iTunes, and eventually acquired by Google through YouTube.

Up to now, cooperation between Seibert with David still exists. Seibert even listed as an investor in Tumblr and sits on the board of directors of the company.


“Drop out “High School
David is a smart kid. He was quiet and tends to be closed. It was also admitted his own. He prefers to come in early to the office to work quietly.

"Right now where I feel most productive when I was immersed in code, immersed in several projects, and tweaking the design,” said David in an event Founders Conference held in New York.

Success at a Young age
When he moved 18 years, David decided to go directly up the world of work. He had to go to Tokyo, Japan; to work at a startup (company pilot) called UrbanBaby, an online parenting that provides services for parents. When the teens learn in college, David had served as Head of Product at UrbanBaby.

In 2006, CNET Networks acquired UrbanBaby. David returned to the US. Last position when it is the chief technology officer (CTO) at UrbanBaby. After the acquisition, the same year, David stepped down and builds his own consulting firm. The company was named Davidville. One of the projects he's working on Davidville is a simple blogging service that evolved into Tumblr.

Before Yahoo announced the purchase Tumblr, the blogging service has been worth more than 200 million U.S. dollars. However, it did not make David's life in luxury. Day-to- day, David would rather drive a bicycle from his home in Brooklyn to the region Tumblr headquarters in New York. David tall slender also prefer going casual in her jeans, T - shirts, and sneakers.

The new figure of David was 26 years old when the news about the highlighted increasingly interested in buying Yahoo Tumblr began to surface.
