Aaron H. Swartz was found dead in his apartment in New York, United States, Friday (11/01/2013). He ended their lives by hanging himself.

Swartz, the 26 -year -old young man, was not just anybody in the world of information technology. Throughout the relatively short life he has made a great achievement, including technology initiated the syndicated Really Simple Syndication (RSS).

He is also known as an Internet activist who fought for the right of public access to digital information.

Familiar since childhood
Aaron Swartz was born in the city of Chicago, Illinois, on 8 November 1986 from the couple Susan and Robert Swartz. As the son of the founder of a software company, he was already familiar with computers and the internet since childhood. From childhood, intelligence and Aaron anxiety about the world have begun to appear.

Treading the age of 14 years , Swartz who received his formal education at a private school to be part of the team that created the specification of RSS ( Rich Site Summary / Really Simple Syndication ) , which until now used widely to subscribe to content on the internet .

Had entered Stanford University, Swartz came out just a year after finishing college because they do not like. He then became one of the early team members of social news site Reddit. This site was then purchased by Condé Nast Publications which owns wired magazine towards the end of 2006. Be financially independent Swartz few days before reaching the age of 20 years.

One Swartz dream is to make public information truly "public”, which can be accessed easily and without paying. He wants to open as wide as possible access to information.

In September 2010, Swartz founded the activist organization called Demand Progress in reaction to the policy of the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), which was initiated by the U.S. government.

During the year 2011, Swartz and his friends organize a massive internet protest in January 2012 which led to the cancellation of the law that cyberspace censorship.

Swartz is an impatient person. With incredible talent and a fiery spirit, he has the tendency to face everything with frontal, if necessary, against the authorities or applicable rules. He has his own point of view that does not necessarily correspond to the actual state of the world. For several years, the character has a positive impact, until finally Swartz mired in a deep hole.

Entangled problems
In order to spread his views about public access to information, in the span of time between late 2010 and early 2011, Swartz exploit weaknesses in the system of the academic journal archive JSTOR belonging to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to download approximately 4.8 million digital documents. He intends to share it for free on the internet.

When the MIT aware of what is happening and decide Swartz wireless network used to download (download) almost the entire contents of the digital library, he infiltrated the MIT server room and connect his laptop directly to the campus network.

Final act that brought Swartz face charges of hacking, in July 2011. He faces decades in prison in a trial that had been due to start around the beginning of 2013.

Perhaps because of that, a talented man who wanted to change the way information flows around the world decided to end his life. Swartz’s family blamed the U.S. government is considered to be too aggressively pursue penalties for Swartz.
