If you go back to the year 2012 the respective companies, Samsung and Apple, each filed a complaint for patent infringement of their products. But the court ruled that Apple and Samsung's patent and mutual violate the court ordered that the two Smartphone giants are mutually minimum pay damages for patent infringement they have done.
South Korea is one from "battlefield" of these two Smartphone giants. In 2012, Apple got a big win in the state of California after a jury ruled that Samsung violated Apple's patents 5 associated with the design and functionality. Loss is still in the appraiser and the possibility of close to one billion dollars.
