Batery Saving Tricks in 8 Core Samsung Processor

Batery Saving Tricks in 8 Core Samsung Processor
How many pieces of the ideal number of core processors for mobile devices? One, two, four, or eight? The number of the latter is chosen Samsung for its latest series mobile processor, Exynos 5 Octa.

It was announced Samsung at CES stage, January 9, 2013, as if not to be outdone the other two manufacturers of processors, Nvidia and Qualcomm, which also introduces mainstay respectively.

Even has a number of core two times more than the previous generation processor, Exynos 5 Octa promised power efficient and will not waste battery high-end Smartphone or tablet wear.

Therefore, the eight core processor Exynos 5 Octa, only four that have high performance. The fourth core Cortex A15 based architecture, just like yours Exynos 5 Dual processor used in tablet Nexus 10. The remaining four cores using the basic architecture of the Cortex A7 is optimized for power efficiency, not performance.

This configuration is the result of the application of the concept of “big.LITTLE “from ARM. The eight -core Exynos 5 Octa will share the workload dynamically according to the number of system load. For example, browsing or other mild case handled by the A7 cores, while core A15 will take over while running games or apps “heavy " other.

Exynos 5 Octa will be one of the first processor that implements the concept big.LITTLE, if not actually the first. The concept is slightly different from the approach taken in the processor Nvidia Tegra 3 and Tegra 4, in which the chip manufacturers embed an additional core (companion core) that can only be used when all four main cores is turned off.

Exynos 5 Octa will be made with the 28nm fabrication processes that promise more efficient use of power than the 32nm process used to make the Exynos 5 Dual.

Problem couple of graphics processors (GPU) used in this SoC, Samsung does not provide specific information except the claim that its performance will be two times faster than previous generation processors.

If the processor "older generation" is Samsung's Exynos 4 covers, Samsung Exynos 5 Octa will probably be put on the Mali- T604 GPU as that used by Samsung Exynos 5 Dual.
