AMD will release ARM-Based CPU

AMD will release ARM-Based CPU
AMD will release ARM-Based CPU. In 2012 ago, AMD announced plans to create a Central Processing Unit (CPU) ARM -based servers. Reportedly now, the plan will begin to be developed with the announcement of “Seattle”, the first CPU of ARM -based AMD.

Reporting from AMD, Seattle is a series of processors for the server that will have an official name Opteron A Series. The first models of this product line is the Opteron A1100 is equipped with 4 or 8 cores ARM Cortex - A57. The core architecture brings 64 - bit and runs at speeds of up to 2 AMD’s new GHz. Chip will also include a cache of 4 MB of level 2 and level 3 of 8 MB. Support DDR3 and DDR4 memory cover, with a capacity of up to 128 GB. It has connectivity including eight owned version 3.0 PCIe lanes, eight SATA 3 ports, and two 10 Gigabit Ethernet port speed. There is also a search for cryptography and compression. Series Opteron power consumption referred to only about 25 watts.

Andrew Feldman as corporate vice president and general manager of AMD's server business unit said that “Seattle " not only marks the company 's commitment in the ARM ecosystem in the server environment , but also the beginning of a new era on  ARM community , "said Feldman . Adding ARM-based CPU will play an important role in the data center of the future is expected to dominate the server market share by a quarter by 2019.

With the announcement of " Seattle " this time does not mean forgetting AMD x86 chip architecture also announced they will test the latest x86-based processor that, "Berlin" and "Warsaw". AMD's release schedule in the first quarter of 2014. Processor “Berlin” will be available as a CPU and APU, and will immerse core CPU “steamroller“ new generation. For APU “Berlin " is claimed as the AMD APU based Heterogeneous Systems Architecture ( HSA ), which allows the CPU and GPU share access to memory systems in order to lower power consumption and enhanced computing power. CPU server company “Warsaw " will present 12 to 16 -core " Piledriver ", and the CPU acts as an upgrade option of current AMD 6300 series.
