Canada suggested Prohibition BlackBerry Messenger. Why?

The proposal to prohibit the use of BBM was expressed by Suzanne Legault from Canada Information Commission. She recommended that the use of instant messaging services that are prohibited when used in BlackBerry phones belong to the government.

The reason, messages sent through BBM can be erased quickly making it difficult to document. So the reason she advances. In addition to BBM, similar services are also proposed not to be used. Communication via email is better.

In a report to Parliament, stated Suzanne instant messages are automatically removed, usually within 30 days. That is, the Canadian government cannot ask the recorded message if necessary, have the authority to do so despite the legal protection Access to Information Act.

“Instant messaging mostly not backed up on the server, it is automatically deleted within a certain time and thus, cannot be recovered, and “said Suzanne quoted from the Globe and Mail, Monday (02/12/2013).

Suzanne recommends that the use of instant messaging like BBM in the Government of Canada is prohibited, unless it is really necessary. Currently, there are about 98 thousand Canadian civil servants who use BlackBerry handsets.
