According to The New York Times article, Andy Rubin has set its focus to create humanoid robots become a reality, which one day will perform its functions in the field of manufacturing and retail.
Google reportedly robotic group not only wanted to create a robot for the consumer, as well as X labs that develop products such as Google Glass and autonomous vehicles. Instead the group wants to achieve the goal to immediately throw their products into the market and then sell it.
Rubin said so much potential for robotics applications such as production and logistics area. Rubin wants the robot could help electronics assembly process, as well as compete with companies such as Amazon's retail market.
Robotic automation group will be able to make the supply chain that goes from the plant to the company, to send the product to the customer's door. One example, I could automate that drove Google Shopping service package to urban areas. There are also other applications such as, having a robot introductory package to the customer's door which utilizes Google's autonomous vehicle.
The new Google Groups is focused on the field of robotics, not just a discourse. In the last half year the technology giant has acquired seven companies start-up field of robotics and artificial intelligence from the U.S. and Japan, among others, Schaft, Industrial Perception, Bot & Dolly, Holomni, Meka Robotics and Redwood.
