Microsoft SkyDrive Be Forced to Change name to 'NewDrive'

Microsoft SkyDrive Be Forced to Change name to 'NewDrive'
Microsoft SkyDrive
Microsoft must find a way to maintain brand 'SkyDrive' to be used as the name of his cloud storage service. It may be that, Microsoft even had to change the name to 'NewDrive‘.

Certainly not easy to build a brand, if it ultimately should be renamed SkyDrive. Microsoft arguably should refrain from zero.

BskyB is a company that filed a lawsuit against Microsoft. The company is headquartered in the UK; said Microsoft had violated brand 'Sky' by naming its cloud storage service SkyDrive.

BskyB allow Microsoft still uses the brand for a reasonable time. Thus, the transition can change the name later easily. This decision, Microsoft reportedly already started looking for a new name.

Quoted from Ubergizmo, Wednesday (11/27/2013), a source familiar with the matter said SkyDrive will likely be renamed 'NewDrive‘. Speculation is increasingly sticking with the information from LiveSide reported that a URL address at www.newdrive.com directed to access SkyDrive. However, when traced, this link cannot be accessed.

There has been no confirmation from Microsoft to this report. Other resources mentioned "NewDrive" might just be some sort of placeholder until Microsoft finally found a suitable replacement name.

Microsoft never did such a strategy beforehand. Remember Hotmail email service? At that time a new email service code-named internal "new mail", until eventually is re-branded as Outlook.
