LINE has penetrated 300 million users in nearly 2.5 years since its launch on June 23, 2011. LINE is a Japanese proprietary application for instant messaging on smartphones and PCs. LINE users exchange text messages, graphics, video and audio media, make free VoIP calls, and hold free audio or video conferences.

“We are pleased to have achieved our target this year, 300 million users after the mark of 100 million users in January, and “said Akira Morikawa, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) LINE Corporation, in a written statement on Tuesday, November 26, 2013.

Increasing trend is seen in the adoption of the service in July 2012 that has reached 50 million users. Then, during the next six months, LINE used 100 million users.

Positive growth was continued in the following months. In three months, i.e. April 2013, LINE recorded 150 million users and 200 million users in July 2013, and finally broke the 300 million users by the end of November 2013.

Also mentioned, LINE growth for the Indonesian market very rapidly, reaching 14 million active users. “In 2014, we are targeting 500 million users, and makes LINE as the top online communications base in the world, " said Morikawa.

To achieve this target, LINE will present stickers and interesting content, especially on the momentum, for example the upcoming Christmas Day.

LINE will present Pop - up Store that provides a range of premium products and typical cute LINE, including dolls and a variety of knick-knacks.

At present, the company focused on the addition of new users in India, Turkey, and the countries of Western Europe, including France, Germany, and Italy.
