10 Fastest Super Computer in the World

10 Fastest Super Computer in the World - Large countries are competing in making the seemingly fastest supercomputers. For now, China managed to become a winner with Tianhe - 2 products.

Tianhe, which literally can be referred to as the Milky Way or the Milky Way, the second generation of the fastest after being crowned in a benchmark test , the device records the speed of 33.86 petaflops ( 1000 trillion calculations ) per second.

One of the unique owned by Tianhe-2 are components. Almost all devices contained in this supercomputer created and developed directly in the Bamboo Curtain country. Only one major piece that is made outside the country, namely the processor. The manufacturer Tianhe-2, National University of Defense Technology, entrust such a vital part to Intel.

“Tianhe - 2 has 16,000 nodes, each equipped with two Intel Xeon processor architecture Ivy Bridge Xeon processors and three Phi . Taken together, they produce 3.12 million computing cores, “said the Top 500 website, the testers supercomputers.

The 500 fastest supercomputers today, there are 252 devices in the U.S., 112 in Europe, 66 in China and 30 in Japan.

Here are 10 Fastest Super Computer in the World today, as quoted from ArsTechnica:

1. Tianhe - 2 (National University of Defense Technology, China)

10 Fastest Super Computer in the World
Tianhe - 2
This is the fastest supercomputer in the world today. Device that is a successor to the series of Tianhe - 1A is the fastest record in the world, with a performance of 33.86 petaflop. Tianhe - 2 using the Intel Xeon processor architecture Ivy Bridge and Intel Xeon Phi with a total of 3.12 million core (core). This computer spent 17.808 kilowatts of power and is theoretically able to touch 54.9 petaflop speeds.

2. Titan (Oak Ridge National Laboratory, USA)
10 Fastest Super Computer in the World
Titan
The computer had to be the fastest in the world, before it is shifted by Tianhe - 2. It has a speed of 17.6 petaflop process. This system uses Cray and AMD -based CPU Nvidia GPU with 560 640 total core. The device is in third place as the most power-efficient supercomputer, using 8209 kilowatts.

3. Sequoia (Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, USA)
10 Fastest Super Computer in the World
Sequoia
This device also never felt the title of the fastest in the world, at least until June 2012. Sequoia used by U.S. nuclear companies to simulate the age of nuclear weapons. Based Blue Gene / Q made by IBM, this device has nearly 1.6 million processor cores and be able to touch 17.2 petaflop speeds.

4. K Computer (RIKEN Advanced Institute for Computational Science, Japan)
10 Fastest Super Computer in the World
K Computer
K Computer ever be the fastest in 2011. K computer was created and developed by Fujitsu. Capable of delivering up to 10.5 petaflop with 705 024 core Sparc.

5. Mira (Department of Energy -owned Argonne National Laboratory, USA)
10 Fastest Super Computer in the World
Mira
Mira using the system Blue Gene / G belongs to IBM with 786 432 8.6 core to achieve petaflop speeds. When fully operational in 2014, it will offer 5 billion hours per year for computational scientists (calculation time for each core).

6. Stampede (Texas Advanced Computing Center, University of Texas, USA)
10 Fastest Super Computer in the World
Stampede
Stampede using Dell PowerEdge servers with Xeon processors from Intel and InfiniBand interconnect, Stampede is able to print a 5.2 petaflop speeds. It is the largest system in the world used for scientific research. All researchers in the U.S. establishment can ask to use this device.

7. Juqueen (Julich Supercomputing Center, Germany)
10 Fastest Super Computer in the World
Juqueen
Juqueen using the system Blue Gene / Q made by IBM. Comes with a 458 752 core and capable of touching a speed of 5 teraflops. Using the power of 2,301 kilowatts, Juqueen is one of supercomputing power saving.

8. Vulcan (Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, USA)
10 Fastest Super Computer in the World
Vulcan
Also comes with using technology Blue Gene / Q. Speed is able to touch the figure 4.3 petaflop and has 392 216 core. Not used for the benefit of the government, but to the industry and the research universities in Germany.

9. SuperMuc (Leibniz Supercomputing Centre, Germany)
10 Fastest Super Computer in the World
SuperMuc
SuperMuc using artificial IBM server, iDataPlex, 300TB of RAM, and InfiniBand interconnect, SuperMuc has 147 456 inches and can reach speeds of 2.9 petaflop.

10. Tianhe - 1A (National Supercomputing Center, China)
10 Fastest Super Computer in the World
Tianhe - 1A
The first generation of Tianhe, located at the National Supercomputer Center, Tianjin. Tianhe - 2 older brothers. Never be the fastest in November 2010. This product uses the Intel Xeon processor and Nvidia GPU with core speed the process as much as 183 368 and can reach speeds of 2.6 petaflop .
